Therapeutic Treatment Modalities

Therapeutic modalities deliver treatment beyond manual therapies. At Wasatch Sports and Family Chiropractic, we stay on top of the latest, most effective treatments for our patients in our Lehi, UT, office. We offer you the absolute best treatments available to resolve your pain.

Cold Laser

The cold laser is a safe, effective treatment that accelerates the healing process. The laser delivers energy and therapeutic light to damaged cells to promote faster repair. It can be used for pain in the back and neck, TMJ, fibromyalgia, impetigo, arthritis, tendinitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, wound healing, and much more.

Ozone Therapy

Ozone (03), along with homeopathic solutions such as vitamin B12, B6, vitamin C, plasma, Traumeel, Zeel, and anti-inflammatories are administered via injection into damaged connective tissue around joints. The solution is attracted to inflammation and travels to the areas of injury. Patients with chronic pain are good candidates for this treatment, as it restarts the healing process and reverses the pain.

Dry Needling

Dry needling, using needles that don’t include medication (dry), is used to resolve pain and increase movement. This should not be confused with acupuncture. Dry needling is based on
Research and Western medicine. The needles are used to release trigger points to relieve pain and improve range of motion.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha, however, is a Traditional Chinese Medicine treatment dating back over 1,000 years. A tool shaped for different soft tissue areas is used to relieve tight muscles or “knots”. The treatment decreases muscle tension and provides pain relief.

Cupping

You may remember seeing the cupping marks on the back of Olympic medalist Michael Phelps in 2016. Cupping treatment dates back to the Han dynasty in Ancient China. During treatment, a small cup is placed on the skin and a slight suction anchors it so that it pulls upward with slight pressure. This treatment increases blood flow, reduces pain, eases muscle aches, and draws toxins out of the body.

Electrical Stimulation

Pain and decrease in functional mobility may be treated with electrical stimulation. This is often administered through transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS). We place electrodes over the part of your body that is painful and deliver electrical impulses to alter the pain signals.

EMS (electrical muscle stimulation) excites the muscle motor nerves, and interferential stimulation offers deeper tissue penetration with increased circulation. TENS units affect sensory nerve endings to decrease pain. TENS availability depends on your insurance coverage.
